The shaft length measurement refers to the total length from the end of the bell to the connector sleeve.
The attachments for this immersion blender have an interlocking mechanism that keeps the attachment secure to the power pack. When installing the immersion blender arm or whisk, twist the power pack and attachment in opposing directions until you hear / feel them click into place.
